My Students
Scientist are developed at a young age! I need to provide exciting and engaging hands-on activities for my young scientists. These materials are not readily available with the current school's science curriculum.
My students are representative of the diverse population and encompass all nationalities and backgrounds.
The paper workbooks are not sufficient to appeal to these young developing minds. They cannot read most words and with a content area like Science, it is imperative that I build the background knowledge for them. Most of my students do not come to Kindergarten with a background of scientific knowledge! I must set the stage for this knowledge to be unfolded in class. I can do this with the kind support of donors like you who provide materials.
My Project
My students need the owl pellet kit and the Manual for Owl Pellets to culminate a unit on nocturnal animals. We also need a lab coat for the "Super Sensational Scientist" of the day! These young scientists, will be allowed to dissect an owl pellet and use their five senses to gather data. These owl pellets will tell us a about what the owl has eaten, and therefore what animals are his prey. We will cross-reference our findings with information in the owl pellet guide. We will predict what the bones represent and first, make a hypothesis about what we will find in the owl pellets.
This exploration will set the foundation for life-long scientists who love to explore and experiment!
