My students come from a variety of backgrounds to attend our Title I school. These are the students that pull themselves up by their boot-scraps and don't make excuses. The students that enter from impoverished neighborhoods with resilience and determination are the students I proudly teach.
Many times lacking adequate background knowledge, still they rise!
My students usually enter the classroom 1-2 grade levels behind but constantly give their best effort to set goals and close the achievement gaps because they know I have high expectations for them all. Due to the expectations, encouragement, and effort, the students soar!
My Project
Students for years have been asked to sit still and quiet while reaching maximum learning potential. This doesn't work! In the real world, adults are usually moving and collaborating while working to achieve maximum output potential.
Alternative and flexible seating will help students reach maximum learning output by stimulating their body and brain.
I am requesting exercise balls, stretch bands, and stack stools. Helping our class start using these alternatives will give them a tool they need to reach success through choice, movement, engagement, and motivation.
Students will be able to enter the room daily and choose their optimum learning environment seat or area for daily learning and group collaboration.
