My Students
Each morning students walk into class with anticipation. After all, learning is on the menu for the day. A feast of knowledge awaits and "seconds" are always available. Students can immerse themselves in well-loved books, perhaps encountering an idea that will inspire a future, a dream or a path.
My students are incredible.
Each one carries a vast number of experiences and talents. These add to the diverse fabric that makes my class a rich and brilliant environment to be in. Our class is a community founded upon respect and learning, with a deep investment in teamwork. My students not only ask many of the day's questions, they also research, discuss and discover their world around them. They learn with purpose, excitement and curiosity.
Students in our school say hello in over 19 different languages and the smiles frequently displayed are universal. Dedicated educators work tirelessly to share knowledge in innovative and interesting ways, including the arts. We thrive on the smiles of our pupils, and the twinkling of their eyes when understanding takes place.
Our school is nestled near the heart of our city, affording views of the skyline from the top floor. Students who come here are not wealthy, but leave rich in knowledge and experience.
My Project
A world is shaped by the people who help mold it. This project is dedicated to helping my students learn about those innovative and incredible individuals who have shaped history in many different ways.
Students will use these 50 books to learn about a notable individual. They will choose the famous person they wish to learn about from the collection. Then comes the best part, reading!
With reading completed, they will organize and gather information that they have gleaned from the books and transform it into a "gallery stroll" type poster presentation for other students who will visit. Students will demonstrate their knowledge by presenting facts about their famous person to their visiting guests. Students will have accomplished a valuable research project.
This project will help my students learn about the dreams and actions of many important people.
My wish is for my students now and those to come, to read these books and see what a difference that one person can make upon the world. In doing so, I wish my students to be inspired by the contributions they read about. I hope they dream of what wonderful things they themselves are capable of doing in their own futures.
