Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students walk through the door each morning full of energy, ready to learn, and excited to see what knowledge they will gain for the day. I make sure to come to school ready to match that energy.
I teach at a Title I school in southern California where almost all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Eighty-five percent of the students qualify for a free or reduced-price lunch.
Despite the many associated hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their very best which I expect of each of them. They want to be in school because they want to learn, and it's my pleasure to make this happen.
My Project
After going digital for over a year, I want my students reading actual books as quickly as possible. I also want them to get back into the habit of researching. The best way to start doing this is to get them interesting books of interesting lives. And so...
I want to get books about famous people into my students' hands!
Help make this possible for my students as we slowly transition back into the classroom. Reading actual books is one step closer to normalcy and opens up worlds unknown to my students.
