Who Wants to Play Kickball?

My students need a recess pack of equipment and hula hoops for outdoor recess as most of ours has been broken or lost.

My Students

Recess is one of the last blocks in our school day. After recess, students have just one hour left of school. This means that they put all their hard work in at the beginning of the day and are physically, emotionally and mentally ready for recess when the time comes. They deserve this time!

My students are active, diverse and inspiring!

Some students in my class are given opportunities, even daily, to be active and participate in group activities outside of school. Some students participate in football, cheerleading, after school clubs and programs, band or chorus and other engaging activities. These activities allow and encourage them to work with others and be active. Unfortunately, other students in my class are not given these same opportunities due to family situations, living arrangements or housing locations. For some students recess may be the only time during their day that they get a chance to be active and social with other children their same age. Unlike during academic time, this is their time of the day to simply hang out with their friends and participate in activities that interest them.

My Project

Our school is currently renting a school building from a church while a new school building is being built for us. Unfortunately, the building we are renting does not have a playground and the students are forced to have recess on the blacktop only. Although they have great imaginations and manage to have a wonderful time at recess, the recess pack of equipment and hula hoops I have requested will bring more enjoyment and entertainment to their recess time. Students will be able to use the requested recess materials to play large group, cooperative games as well as small group and individual activities.

By having these materials donated, the students not only in my class but as well as other grade 4 classes will be able to play together in an organized manner.

They will be able to participate in games and activities that encourage teamwork and cooperation. In addition, these materials will allow the students to be active not only physically but their imaginations will be going wild also!
