My Project
My students enjoy listening to and talking about picture books. Some of our best conversations happen when we are gathered on the carpet reading a book. We are able to have rich discussions about what is happening in the stories we read and connect these stories to our own experiences. My students need these same opportunities to make connections to the real world when learning math as well.
Through the use of children's books, my students would have this opportunity to connect real world experiences to the things they are currently learning in the math classroom. This knowledge would not only make the curriculum more engaging for them, but would also provide them with a purpose for learning the content as well.
