Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This is my my sixth year as a teacher in the NYCDOE. My kindergarten students have a variety of needs. With the school demographics being 79% Hispanic, and 13% English language learners, many resources are needed to ensure that all learners needs are being met. In kindergarten, one of the most important things to have is environmental print around the room, and visuals to go along with all teaching materials. Also, it is imperative that students feel comfortable in the classroom. A comfortable and fun environment will lead to them doing their best learning!
Our school's mission is to collaboratively educate the whole child.
My students deserve the best education possible, and I want to make sure I have the resources to provide them with that.
My Project
I am already planning for next year, and I want to make sure learning is as fun as possible when students return to school!
There will be a lot of unfinished learning to account for, and I don't want the students to feel any stress about it!
Having fun games to teach them how to read and write will make them want to learn! Phonics and sight words are crucial in the reading development of kindergarteners, and these activities will help directly with that! The students have been through so much, and I just want to put a smile on their little faces.
