This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend an elementary school in Kensington. These children live in a rough, crime-ridden neighborhood. One hundred percent of the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch every day. Despite all of this, they come to school every day still eager to learn. Many of our parents struggle to purchase the school supplies their children need for school. I wish to make the stressful supply-buying time for families easier by having supplies in my classroom for students to be able to use daily.

My Project

The school supplies I am asking for include markers, pencil cases, colored pencils, crayons, scissors, book marks, pens, erasers and pencils. I am also requesting bins to help the students to organize and share the new supplies. These supplies, along with the 180 Days of Practice book set, will help my students be ready and well-equipped to tackle a new school year.

Giving my students this gift will help them have all the necessary supplies needed to be successful throughout the school year.
