This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend an elementary school in Kensington. These children live in a rough, crime-ridden neighborhood. One hundred percent of the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch every day. Despite all of this, they come to school every day still eager to learn. Many of our parents struggle to purchase the school supplies their children need for school. I wish to make the stressful supply-buying time for families easier, by having supplies in my classroom for students to be able to use daily.

My Project

My students come from an impoverished, crime-ridden, violent area. My students come to school everyday eager and ready to learn; however, without the necessary supplies for success. The school supplies I am asking for include: notebooks, folders, colored pencils, crayons, erasers and pencils. These supplies will help my students be ready and well-equipped to tackle a new school year.

Giving my students this gift, will help them have all the necessary supplies needed to be successful throughout the school year.

I am also asking for the fun, informational novel "Who Was Abraham Lincoln". This book will excite my young readers and allow their imaginations to run wild. It will show my students reading can be fun, interesting and entertaining. This will help them develop skills to become better, lifetime readers.
