Did you ever dissect in science class? For those who have, it was probably most memorable activity in science. I want to provide my students with that memorable and educational experience.
My students are amazingly brilliant and are always eager to learn new things.
They are so curious about the world around them, even though many of them have never even been outside of their hometown. They have such great potential and I want to provide them with as many new experiences as I can.
I teach sixth, seventh and eighth grade science in an under served, high need community in Louisiana. I teach at a charter school whose aim is to create emerging leaders out of our students. With our extended school year, we are committed to making our students reach their maximum potential. Our students are brilliant and they deserve the best resources to prove it.
I am a new teacher teaching at a school with limited resources. In addition, the school where I teach is only in its third year of existence, so we don't have access to the same resources other established schools do.
My Project
This unit, we are learning about ecology. My students are amazed by animal relationships. They are particularly intrigued by food webs and the role that animals play in their environment. I would like to provide them with the hands-on experience of discovering animal relationships and food webs. Owl pellets provide a perfect opportunity for my students to interact with food webs in a way that is more meaningful than simply drawing a food web or seeing a picture of one. An Owl pellet dissection would provide my students with so many learning opportunities. My students could have first-hand experience with the treatment of lab animals, science lab procedures, the role organisms play in their environment, and predator/prey relationships. Your donation to my students would allow my brilliant students to experience this once in a lifetime opportunity that they could learn from and certainly never forget.
By donating to my students, you will be supplying them with an amazing resource that they would not be able to experience otherwise.
You will be ensuring that my students continue to be excited about learning and get the opportunity to dissect and expand their experiences in the classroom. Thank you!
