My Students

I started with these students in the 6th grade and loved them so much I decided to move up to 7th and now 8th with them. The students endured rigorous years of me trying to inspire them to be the best version of themselves whether or not they loved school. My students and I were awarded the most growth in English and Math in the entire school district. Needless to say, these students worked extremely hard! I want to inspire them to keep that growth going by rewarding them throughout the year.

"I always thought a great teacher was a fun teacher.

But Ms. Clark you’ve helped me realize that a great teacher pushes you to succeed even when you don’t want them to, that a great teacher is hard on you because they want the best for you." - quoted from a student.

What makes my students so special is the community that they have built is the most beautiful aspect of it all. They are friends with everyone, maybe not the best of friends, but they can work with and find commonalities with everyone in our class. They welcome new students and appreciate everyone for who they are!

My Project

Getting students to raise their hand and speak in front of the class isn't always easy. However, a throwable microphone can help with that. This will allow students to think sharing is fun! This will also help with those students that have such soft voices that even standing next to them makes it difficult to hear them.

Giving students a platform that is fun and that lets their voice be heard is a great way to have student engagement!

A throwable microphone is just what it sounds like, a microphone that you can throw. I know it sounds a little confusing and not possible, but engineers have put foam padding around a microphone and figured out how to make it tossable. The microphone has sensors that sense movement so it turns off when being thrown and turns back on once caught.

Every morning my students circle up and participate in a class meeting. This would be a great device to use so that we can all hear what they are saying, especially the shy students who speak softly. I think this could transform some students confidence and show them how important their voice is. Please help make our classroom a little more fun and engaging by funding our throwable class microphone!
