My students need real-time informative magazines for kids such as Scholastic Scope, which help with analyzing text. They also need squishy toys and notebook doodles and more to use as rewards.
I started with these students in the 6th grade and loved them so much I decided to move up to 7th grade with them. The students endured a rigorous year of me trying to inspire them to be the best version of themselves whether or not they loved school. My students and I were awarded the most growth in English and Math in the entire school district. Needless to say, these students worked extremely hard! I want to inspire them to keep that growth going by rewarding them throughout the year.
"I always thought a great teacher was a fun teacher.
But Ms. Clark you’ve helped me realize that a great teacher pushes you to succeed even when you don’t want them to, that a great teacher is hard on you because they want the best for you." - quoted from a student.
What makes my students so special is the community that they have built is the most beautiful aspect of it all. They are friends with everyone, maybe not the best of friends, but they can work with and find commonalities with everyone in their class. They welcome new students and appreciate everyone for who they are.
My Project
The materials you donate will be used during a weekly raffle in which students use their earned classroom income or bonuses to purchase raffle tickets. Our classroom has a economy in which every student has a classroom job that they get paid for. They use their paychecks to rent or purchase their desks, to pay fines that they owe, and to purchase raffle tickets for weekly prizes. All of the prizes listed here have educational value. There are science-based prizes, art supplies, and games for building community. The prizes are educational incentives to inspire the students to work hard and get rewarded for their hard work. Last year all but one student saved enough money to purchase their desk. This classroom economy teaches students to budget their money and get a feel for what the real world looks like. Every student's job is important and needed in our classroom and it builds a community that works together. Students love payday and they love being able to purchase goods with their hard earned money. Please help reward these awesome students for all the hard work they do!
