Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This project aims to support bilingual and biliterate Spanish and English students in kinder, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. The materials in this project allow students to decode words by understanding the parts within the word. For example, if the word was ship, students would map Sh..i..p . For more advanced patterns deer d..ee..r. This strategy helps students to fully understand the patterns within language in order to become independent readers.

These whiteboards have phonemic mapping and syllable mapping built in and are aligned with the science of reading.

When students can understand the patterns in their 1st language it also helps for aquisition in their 2nd language.

I'm sure these materials will be used in classrooms on a daily basis. Thank you for considering.
