This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from low-income families who have not all had the opportunity to experience everything the world has to offer them. They are able to use what is provided to them inside the classroom, but would love to enhance their learning even more! My students are eager to learn, and would benefit from hands-on activities and other resources that will allow them to grow.
Knowing that many of my students are unable to afford educational materials necessary to grow, I am eager to find a way to provide it to them on my own!
My Project
My students are hands-on learners. They become engaged when they are provided with something other than pencils and paper. One way to engage my class during whole group and small group instruction is to use miniature whiteboards. Students love to show their work on their whiteboards to then present it to the class. Although my class loves to engage in this activity, it is also a very stressful time during instruction. I do not have enough whiteboards for everyone in the class to use, and the dry erase markers have dried out. This activity is becoming less and less valuable as students do not have the materials in order to participate.
I am asking for donations so that I can purchase each of my students miniature whiteboards and dry erase markers to be used for the rest of the school year.
As we approach the end of the school year, I want to make sure I can keep my students engaged and learning!
