This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently have a group of 23 fabulous second graders in a dual language classroom. They live in a low income, high poverty stricken inner city community in northern New Jersey. My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom due to their socioeconomic status and their varying linguistic abilities. Despite this, they are ready, willing, and excited to learn! They tackle challenges and strive to do their best. They are resilient, respectful, and hardworking students.

My Project

During this most difficult time of teaching and learning, the use of individual whiteboards is so helpful to keep students motivated and engaged during lessons. It is a quick way to assess student learning and a fun tool for learners. It is so important for each student to have their own whiteboard, eraser, markers, and earbuds. Students can use these whiteboards to show their thinking. The earbuds will help students to stay focus from any home distractions during remote instructions.

The whiteboards allow my students a way to demonstrate their leaning.

Students love whiteboards, and teachers love to use them! Students can practice a variety of skills on their own whiteboard. Students are tired of looking at computer screens. Whiteboards will allow for instant engagement for learning.

Along with personal whiteboards, I would love to have dry erase markers, pencils, and earbuds for each student's personal home use. The earbuds will detract from home noises and help the students stay focused and concentrated on their remote lessons. All these resources will be delivered to each child individually to help them succeed while learning from home.
