Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year I have a very enthusiastic group of 6 and 7 year olds. More than half of my students come from low income households and we represent several different home languages. The students' ability levels vary widely and I also have students with special needs. Although learning from home is definitely a challenge, they are willing and eager to learn everyday!
My Project
In my First Grade classroom, I use the whiteboard daily to teach reading, writing, and math. Students love to get their turn at the white board to show their peers their work in our supportive classroom community.
Using the whiteboard while I am teaching from home will provide the students with some much needed normalcy.
They know when the whiteboard is in use, it is serious learning time!
Young students are developing so many foundational skills that they need to see modeled for them on a daily basis. The whiteboard will allow me to write with them live as they write at home.
