This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have had the pleasure of working at many schools for the same district for the last two years as a substitute teacher. This is my first-year teaching in my classroom with the same student’s day-in and day-out.

These are some of the best students I have ever taught despite coming from an extremely low socioeconomic background.

Over 70% of our students are on either reduced or free lunch, but they have the most amazing attitudes I have ever taught. They come in every day with the biggest smiles on their faces when they enter my class, every day.

These kids want to learn, they love participating in discussions, they are curious, they are caring, they love to be challenged and they ultimately, just want to learn.

My Project

After, completing our first Mid-Assessment I saw that students retained 50% of the material and I am hoping that these individual white boards will help them understand what we are doing in class.

I completed a survey in my class asking what these students need to do better in math, and almost ALL of my students requested for individual white boards.

These students want to participate in the learning and it can be challenging when we do not have the resources for them. My goal is to have each student follow along using the white board so I can also check their work along the way.
