Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach music (vocal, theory, and history) to a diverse group of music students at a Title I Visual and Performing Arts school in Los Angeles. Students come to our public high school from all over the city to receive a top-notch education in both academics and their chosen art form (music, dance, visual or theater). Many of them go on to study at some of the top academic colleges and art schools across the country.
Our students are hungry for opportunities to explore music and to share their music making with the world.
My Project
My students have only one white board in our music lab classroom and it is not a large enough white board for us to cover a lot of material and keep it written on the board for students to refer back to throughout the class. This project would allow my students to have a second white board in the classroom, so they and I can write more ideas, definitions, examples, etc. and ultimately learn more in the process!
A second white board would be especially helpful for my students who have learning disabilities because I'll have more space to write important material, providing crucial contextual information that will help my students find success with our daily lessons.
