This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students make up the third grade ICT class in a high poverty school in Washington Heights. Despite the fact that almost 90% of the students in my school are from low income families, my class is made up of an amazing group of children who love to learn. These children love school. They are inquisitive, creative, and very enthusiastic. They absolutely love reading, and many of them are approaching grade level and some are even reading above grade level. I can't wait to watch them grow even more this year!

My Project

As teachers we are always looking to improve and grow in their practice. Streamlining supplies while pursuing the vision to engage in quality research-based instructional methods are always a goal of our teachers. Obtaining white-board small group instruction tables would mean that when a small math group is called to the table there would be no fussing with carrying hand held white boards. There would be no interference with hand held whiteboards and books on the table. Simple is key. Learning is priority. Supplies are best utilized when streamlined. Please help us help our kids!

They will easily be able to erase, modify, and correct their thinking due to the flexibility of the whiteboard tables.

We can quickly provide written feedback to students on the table. We can also then illustrate and bring math to life using representational models so kids can transfer their concrete knowledge and eventually graduate to abstract knowledge.
