This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Thank you for considering supporting our classroom project. The items in this request will be used to create a hands-on life skills and social learning experience through baking and cooking activities tailored to the unique needs of my students with autism. Many children in my classroom struggle with communication, sensory regulation, and social engagement. Cooking and baking offer powerful, structured opportunities to address these areas in a fun and meaningful way.

The baking sets, timers, aprons, blender, cookware, and colorful ingredients will allow us to create a weekly or monthly cooking activity that ties directly into our life skills curriculum.

During these activities, students will learn to follow directions, take turns, measure ingredients, use kitchen tools safely, and communicate wants and needs. These are critical skills that support independence and self-confidence.

The snack packs and care packages will serve two purposes. First, they will be used as reinforcers for students working toward behavioral or academic goals. Second, they will allow students to explore food preferences, engage in sharing, and practice appropriate snack-time routines and manners.

Using real-life tools like a blender, toaster oven, and baking kits helps students generalize what they are learning in the classroom to the home and community. These activities are not just about making food. They are about building social bonds, regulating emotions, and preparing students for real-world success.
