This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Welcome to my classroom of eager learners! I work in New York in a high-needs community where resources are not always readily available to the students. I teach a group of fourth graders that are preparing steadily for the state exams that are approaching at the end of this school year.

Reading is the biggest obstacle of the students in my class. Most of my students are not on grade level when it comes to reading. But they do show interest and desire to try and improve themselves so that they can have the best education. But in order to provide the best education for my students, I must supply the classroom library with books that are interesting to them.

My students are eager to learn. This can be seen by the number of books in the library that are falling apart. I managed to save some of my books from when I was a child to use in the classroom library. But since the books are so old they are already beginning to fall apart. Our classroom library is small and is getting even smaller because of books that could not be salvaged. With newer books in the library, the books would last longer and more students will get a chance to read them. The books will also help to extend my classroom library over the years without having to replace classroom library books so often.

You as a donor can make it possible for my students to have an interesting book in their hand to read each and every night. You can help my students to enjoy reading and help their reading level soar through the roof so that they may excel at the New York State reading test. Donors have been the reason why my past classes have been successful. Won't you please help to put a book in a child's hand!
