This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical day in our classroom is centered around becoming tomorrow's great mathematical thinkers and scientific problem solvers.
My fifth graders are determined and hardworking kids looking to be the best they can be!
This is a diverse group of kids that includes students with learning disabilities, English language learners, and gifted and talented students. But no matter what their level, they persevere through the challenges presented by the new Common Core curriculum. My school promotes a culture of learning and looks to provide students with an education that best fits their individual needs.
My Project
My students need three iPad minis with protective covers and headphones for individualized math instruction. By having access to iPads in the classroom, students will receive more individualized instruction. There are an abundance of apps that allow students to improve their learning by providing them with activities based on their individual needs. Rather than always looking to paper and pencil assessments, these programs will allow me to identify weaknesses and assign appropriate practice activities in a more engaging way through videos, models, and games. Whether the student needs to work on basic skills or needs more enrichment activities, the iPads create more opportunities for ALL kids to be successful.
Students come into the classroom with a variety of skill levels.
Some are barely ready to meet the challenges of the upcoming school year, while others are flying through those challenges. By donating to this project, you will help provide activities that will help those kids that need to catch up while also challenging those that are ready for it.
