My Students
I teach approximately 24 students in a Title I school. My students come from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds and many speak English as their second language.
My students are eager to learn, and I want to give them every opportunity to have the materials they need to be successful.
They love to please and the excitement they show when they learn new concepts is infectious throughout the class. Reading and books open whole new worlds to young readers! Thanks in advance for helping my class!
My Project
I need a listening center in my classroom to use for small group reading fluency time. We will use the listening center to allow up to eight students to listen together to one story. Students will rotate through the centers enabling all students to utilize this resource.
Many of my students speak English as a second language, so hearing good, fluent reading is very important for them.
A listening center will help them to hear stories read aloud and following along in the book engages multiple senses. The listening center will also introduce my students to many new books and give them choices on which books they would like to hear.
