My Students
Have you ever had a question about science and knew right where to find the answer?
My students question everything.
For many, so much in life is a question. My unbelievable students are the reason I get up with a smile on my face in the morning. They are young, curious, and always keep me on my toes. As soon as I hook them on a subject, questions come flying at warp speed. They are survivors, coming from homes that don't have much. They support themselves, their siblings, but above all, each other. Our school is made up of over 85% of students receiving free or reduced lunch. For many, breakfast and lunch at school are the only food they get in the day. At home, my students are often on their own. In my class, I try to give each student a safe place to learn. I strive to make my room a place where dreams are dreamed and futures are realized.
My Project
My students need bookshelves and a new pencil sharpener to complete our classroom. The supplies for our classroom will provide a place to hold the dozens of books I have acquired for my students. Right now, we are running out of space with the current furniture, and these new pieces will be able to hold, in one place, our new-to-us books and materials that are all held in different places.
My students thrive on order and function.
By having definitive places in the classroom to find resources, my students will be able to independently find materials on their own, helping to build problem-solving skills.
