it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine typing a paper on a small wobbly desk or trying to draw something for a project on your lap. Despite the effort, the end result may not be the best work due to a lack of workspace.
My students (largely minorities who qualify for the free-reduced lunch program) are desperate to get back into the classroom and into a real space to study, create, and learn.
However, our classroom is missing an adequate workspace for students and appropriate furniture to make this happen.
My Project
For this project, I am requesting a large desk, a printer stand with storage, and pegboards to create a workstation for my students in our classroom. Currently, there is no place for my students to comfortably work on the computer or use our DonorsChoose-funded Cricut machine. Pulling wobbly student desks together or using a bookshelf has been problematic. By funding this project, students will have a dedicated space in our classroom to create projects, conduct research or type papers, or work on creative activities. This will make students feel as if their work is valued by creating room for their needs.
After a year and a half of not being in the classroom and lacking adequate space at home for their schoolwork, students deserve to have the necessary supplies so they can focus on their education.
