Some students find dissections to be horrible. So the thought of having preserved, stinky animals sitting on the same table that you will later take notes on, do assignments, or even place your hands, is unthinkable. Help keep our desks clean!
The students are all college bound kids who are passionate about animals.
They have chosen to take Zoology to prepare them for college and perhaps a lifetime in the field of science. In order to get an adequate laboratory experience students need to feel comfortable in their lab setting and confident in their procedures. These materials will allow students to excel in the class.
My Project
For a student passionate about science and animals, a Zoology class is ideal. This class is only offered at a few schools around California and the students enrolled are looking for the best experience. The class plans to conduct dissections ranging from sea urchins, to sharks, to turtles. And although these dissections are unique to this group of student, they are so fortunate and appreciative of the opportunity. However, their lab setting is less than adequate. The students are not in a typical lab classroom. We conduct the class in a portable classroom without lab stations. The students dissect on their desks. If the class was able to receive dissecting trays, we would be able to use the proper surface to complete the dissections. Not to mention the cleanliness of the students desk will also be maintained.
Students need to feel that their education is valued.
And although the student in Zoology are not in a lab class and they do not have the same structural materials as their peers throughout the country, they can still feel important by using proper lab supplies. To allow a more professional experience and cleaner outcome, dissecting trays would be extremely helpful.
