This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our meeting area is where every lesson begins and ends! It is the place where imagination begins to spark and kids grow to be great friends.
I teach 12 beautiful five year old, who love to learn and hug their friends.
Many of them struggle with expressive speech, fine motor skills, and social-emotional skills. My classroom is a 12:1:1 self-contained Kindergarten classroom in a high-need school in New York State.
My Project
Due to budget cuts, my classroom received a small and flimsy carpet that won't stay in place. Unless students are walking extremely slow onto the carpet, they will slip! Now, my students are so eager to learn that they walk quickly to the meeting area, and fall right down. When it's time to get up to dance or do any activity, the carpet gets wrinkled and folded, and we must stop the activity to fix the carpet. We have tried to tape it down with Gorilla tape, and used a rug pads, but we have had no luck! Also, the carpet is made of rough material that holds on to debris, paper, crumbs, and staples when being vacuumed. A dirty carpet is a huge distraction for many of my students with ADD and sensory integration disorder. They tend to lose focus and fixate on the small staples, or even worst, put it in their mouth.
We want to play and learn on a safe and clean carpet! Please help us.
You donation will allow students to learn on the carpet without distraction or injury.
You will help us play and learn! Please help us purchase this beautiful carpet. It will be where kids listen to stories, dance, clap and cheer for their friends, learn to read, write, draw, and best of all, become learners for life! YOU CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
