My Students
My classroom is an active, vibrant, exciting place of learning, where students come to drink deep and leave full of knowledge. Help me to make their cups overflow each day with these awesome books!
My students attend a small, inner-city, Title I school in South Carolina.
Our school, while filled with over 70% free and reduced lunch, strives everyday to push our students to new heights! We engage our students with the Arts, wow them with our curriculum, and put their hands on every lesson. They are curious learners...like little sponges, soaking up every bit of information I can give them. They LOVE science and social studies. I work overtime trying to go deeper and get more for their wondering minds.
My Project
Teaching map skills to 2nd graders can be a challenge. I use tools like Google Earth and Map Quest to show them amazing things about maps, but they still need a basic foundation of the purpose of maps, how to read maps, and understanding directions. By integrating map skills into literature with the class set "Me On The Map," my students will be able to read about, use, and understand maps on their level. They will also be improving their reading levels as these books are on grade level for my students.
My students deserve the best.
I want them to succeed in every part of my class and in life. I am up late even now, on a school night, trying to get the materials I need to create excitement through learning that will invite success into their lives. Help me help them by donating to this amazing map project!
