My Project

Last year was my first year of teaching in the 5th grade. I made the mistake of hanging two smallish maps of the U.S. and world on my wall. A mistake because they were too small and could only be accessed by a couple students at a time! My students loved using the maps to locate territories, states, countries, and other places of interest, that enhanced or complimented our learning. Finding usable maps to project on technology wasn't as easy as one would think. I strongly believe that these mounted maps are the key to quick, in-the-moment accessibility that makes the connections between geography and social studies, literacy, science, or even math more meaningful. There are so many moments in the life of a fifth grade classroom when we literally want to know where in the world we are.

Mrs. Lavigne will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by November 20.
