My students need 25 desktop maps that they can write on during Social Studies as well as a world and US wall map for the front of the classroom for reference during lessons.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Rome...is that the capitol of Paris? asked an inquisitive 5th grader from my Southwest Texas elementary school...if only this was a joke. Instead, this was an honest question from just one of my students from a high need elementary school.
It was the first day of school as I excitedly told my 5th grade class that I had come to Texas from Connecticut to be their teacher that I realized we had a problem. Beside the problem that my students had no idea where Connecticut was in relation to Texas, my room had no pull down map. My students had no desktop maps, and instead I was left to draw my own illustration of the US on the chalkboard.
My students desperately need maps in our classroom. If each of my 25 students had a desktop map that they could use dry erase marker on as I model on the wall map in the front of the class, our Social Studies lessons would be many times more productive. As it is, my students are under-served in the subject of Social Studies. In the 90 minutes a week that they focus on Social Studies, so much could be gained if they had these resources.
Your help will ensure that America's future knows where in the world Rome is, and what oceans flank either coast of our great country.
