This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class this year is an enthusiastic and eager mix of students from various cultural backgrounds. They have to work hard to overcome the obstacles that face them on a daily basis. However, they are eager to learn and always strive to do their best. The majority of my students (79%) receive free breakfast and lunch and they have very limited access to technology in the home.

Giving them access to, and practice with, more technology in the classroom will help them become the successful 21st century learners that they want to be.

Additionally, these 6 year olds love to move! I would love to have more seating options available to them so that they can do their best learning.

My Project

I am requesting 5 stability balls and lap desks to add some variety into my students' work spaces. My 6 year old students are full of energy and hate being trapped at their tables all day. These seating options will allow all students a chance to choose where they will do their best learning.

Some students benefit from laying on the floor while working, while others needs the constant motion the stability ball provides.

Adding these extra seating options will serve as a reward and reinforcer for students who are doing their best learning. Students will be given the option to choose where they would like to work during each of our independent work blocks. This will give them a chance to choose the best place for them to learn, wherever that may be.
