"Where do I belong in this world?" That's the question my students ask themselves as they learn more about the world around them and the world they cannot even imagine! These books will help to open up a new world to my curious 2nd graders!
My students are second grade boys and girls eager to learn new things!
They range from gifted and talented, to students who are autistic and have learning disabilities! They live in Georgia and have a teacher who believes every child will get what they need!
My Project
I am asking for enough copies of "Socks" by Beverly Cleary and "Magic School Bus: Lost in the Solar System" by Joanna Cole, to allow small reading groups to discover new things about their world through reading! They will understand the relationships in their own families better and broaden their idea of where they belong in the world to the city, state, country, and yes, solar system that surrounds them!
Giving my students new ways to look at things and think about the world is my primary goal!
These two stories are just a beginning in a journey of self discovery and realization that the world is so much bigger than the small world we move around in every day!
