This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school has not had a music program in a few years, for most of my students this is their first time taking music. Despite this many students have risen to the challenge of helping build the music program.

On a daily bases, I am continually amazed at the amount of dedication and passion my students show for their music classes.

Music has brought a sense of belonging and fellowship to the students at my school. As the program begins to grow, I hope to engage more of the student population in any ways I can.

My Project

As the music program at my school begins to grow, so do our needs. After a very successful marching season this school year, we find ourselves facing new challenges. We have grow both in numbers and in musical abilities. My students are very excited to learn new drills and more difficult music next marching season.

Marching lyres and music flip folders will be an essential element for our upcoming summer band camp and marching season.

In previous years we have taken music stands and clothing pins to the stands until their music has been memorized. This upcoming year I plan on challenging my students with new drill, that regular music stands will get in the way. These new lyres and flip folders will be a great help for our upcoming marching season.
