Where Creativity Lives: a Pretend Play Makeover!

Help me give my students an updated/ fully equipped pretend play area with a new kitchen set, dollhouses, diverse family dolls, multicultural baby dolls, a high chair, and wooden play food to inspire imaginative play and foster inclusivity.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are an incredible group of curious, imaginative, and resourceful young learners. In our Reggio-inspired, play-based preschool classroom, their natural curiosity drives the learning process.

They thrive in an environment that invites them to explore, collaborate, and express themselves through hands-on, open-ended experiences.

The items we’re requesting—a new kitchen set, dollhouses, diverse family dolls, multicultural baby dolls, a high chair, and wooden play food—will transform our pretend play loft into a space where creativity flourishes. These materials will not only enrich their dramatic play but also foster important social and emotional skills like empathy, problem-solving, and collaboration. The diverse dolls and multicultural baby sets are especially important for helping children see themselves and their classmates reflected in their play, nurturing an appreciation for different cultures and family structures.

Our goal with this project is to create an inviting and inclusive pretend play area where students can explore the world around them through imaginative scenarios. By pretending to cook meals, care for babies, or build homes with dollhouses, they will engage in meaningful, collaborative play that supports their development in communication, critical thinking, and cultural awareness.

What makes my students special is their boundless creativity and their ability to turn simple materials into extraordinary stories and ideas. This project will give them the tools to take their play to new heights, allowing them to connect their ideas to the world in a deeper, more meaningful way.
