When We Focus We Learn

Help me give my students the Kindercare Seat Cushions and Fidget Bands to help them focus and personal white boards, dictionaries, and puzzles to expand their educational opportunities.

My Students

My class is full of inspiring students. I teach at a Title 1 school and many of my students live at or below the poverty line. Most receive free or reduced lunch benefits. Several students are considered homeless, and many go home to empty houses in the evening. Despite all that, they show up; they want to learn, and they put forth the effort to grow every day.

What makes my class special is their grit and determination.

Just last week I had two kids who were in the corner of the room refusing to do the work because, in their words, "they were too stupid." I reminded them that in my class we do hard things, make mistakes, and never give up. They refocused, got to work, showed perseverance, and not only completed their assignment, but did it perfectly! They truly inspire me and push me to be the best teacher I can be.

My Project

I have several students with behavior plans who need help focusing. Alternative seating and tools like the Fidget Feet will help my students feel more comfortable and focused during the school day while being able to stay at their seat and engage in learning.

Also, supplies like personal white boards, clipboards, dictionaries, and colored paper help students be successful by giving them alternative methods to show work, collaborate together, and be in control of their own learning process.

Supplies like the personal white boards allow students to work in small groups and share ideas, as well as show their work in class without wasting paper.

Lastly, my class loves working on puzzles when they have completed their work. Activities like puzzles help keep kids off of computers and engage their brain in meaningful ways.
