This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 6th grade students are currently going through a lot of first experiences. First time transitioning to and from classrooms, first time coming up with coping strategies to handle emotions, and most evidently first time experiencing hormonal changes. Then of course here comes mother nature, unannounced. As an educator who teaches more than 250 students a week it has been brought to my attention how this time of the month, without the proper accessibility to items, can become a barrier that hinders a child's education. No child would confidently take the "walk of shame" to the nurse's office.
With your donations I will be adding a second layer to my supply closet; I will be giving access to sanitary napkins, tampons, and deodorant to any one of my students who need it.
Having access to a sanitary napkins will bring our girls peace of mind, and allow them to stay in school and focus on their education.
