My Students
My students live in impoverished areas of the city. More than 95% of my students receive government assistance. Some students come to school hungry and without the bare necessities for class. Numerous students have to walk to and from school, even if they live a mile away from the school. Additionally, all students don’t have adequate outerwear to brave the cold winter temperatures. However, my students are still eager to learn and they yearn for a better life. My goal is to provide students with everything that they need to succeed.
My Project
As I observe my students daily, I witness some students in my classes with ill fitting socks, dry and cracked skin, and no headgear. Providing my students with warm socks, gloves, lotions, and beanies will help to protect them in harsh inclement and cold weather.
Most students do not have adequate gloves, warm socks, and beanies to brave the cold weather, as many of them walk to and from school.
Students often ask me for lotion, because their hands are dry and cracked. I have seen student wipe their lips with their lotioned hands to moisturize their lips.
