This novel will help teach social-emotional lessons on challenging themes that our students face in their own lives. Through literature discussions and lessons, students can learn and teach us, building a community of understanding. A story like Manic Magee deals with racism and inequality, issues familiar to many of our students. The story is centered on an orphan boy looking for a home in the fictional town of Two Mills. Two Mills is harshly segregated between the East and West, blacks and whites.
