My students need the most basic of supplies: pencils, spiral notebooks, and erasers.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Felder's classroom raised $430
This project is fully funded
I teach junior high science in a rural district in Mississippi. We are a small school with a small budget. Most of my students come from homes that survive "payday to payday". Too often the monthly budget simply doesn't allow for the purchase of necessities such as groceries, and still have some left over for school supplies.
This is where your generous gift can make such a world of difference in the education of a child! At this age, kids are concerned about what others think of them above all else. How their peers perceive them is paramount in their young lives. A child having to admit he doesn't have a pencil, or mom can't buy him a notebook until next payday is an embarrassment that stings for a long time in a 12 year old. What I am asking for your help with is basic supplies to have on hand so that I can help my kids avoid this scenario.
If I have pencils, erasers, and spiral notebooks on hand, I can discretely give them out to those who need them and spare the child the embarrassment of admitting his parents cannot afford to supply him what he needs for school. Too many rural kids in these low socioeconomic situations give up hope so easily: if a mere pencil being provided spares the child that awkward moment, it is a pencil worth its weight in gold, in my opinion.
Won't you lend a helping hand to some deserving kids? There is no lack of enthusiasm for learning in these students: just a lack of basic supplies. Do you think you could help us out a little? We will surely appreciate it! Thank you in advance for your consideration.
