My Students
My students come from diverse backgrounds and academic abilities. Our school serves students at the lower end of the socioeconomic scale and all our students receive free meals.
My students step into their Physics classroom excited to transform abstract concepts into everyday physical activities.
They are fun to work with because they are opinionated and are excited to support their viewpoints with relevant evidence.
My students are proud to say that they use their brains in my class and find pleasure in discovering and sharing new ideas.
My Project
My students practice making detailed observations of phenomena, asking questions about their wonderment, and exploring ways to investigate their questions. Students will work collaboratively to communicate the relationship between terms used to describe motion and more abstract physics concepts by manipulating and exploring the motion of hot wheels, foam balls, and other objects. They will use the hot wheels to model distance versus displacement; speed versus velocity and acceleration, then document their results with diagrams and mathematically. Students will discuss their observations and findings, provide feedback and questions to further investigate with peers, and presents their final product in their preferred format.
