This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can I just tell you how much I love my kindergarten class? My students rush at me the second I open the door to welcome them for another fun day of learning, which makes it tricky to shake their hands. I am so lucky to teach a classroom of bright, vibrant, happy kindergarteners.

Our school serves a low-income community where 98% of the students depend upon the free lunch program, & walking to school can be a scary ordeal given our inner-city setting.

Like parents everywhere, our families want the best for their children. Unfortunately, many are unable to academically and/or financially support their children's education in the way they would like.

My Project

I love math, science and reading, and enjoy teaching students in an engaging, active way that will promote their understanding of concepts and relationships, not rote memorization. Kindergarten is a wonderful place to foster a love for math & science because the children are so eager to learn, practice, and teach each other their newly mastered skills and/or concepts. The Question of the Day chart kit will allow us to easily pose a daily question to strengthen graphing, organizational and tallying skills. The Let's Read & Find Out science paperbacks address many of the questions little ones have as they explore the world around them in language that is accessible for my English language learners.
