This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Why does matter matter?" "What is a simple machine?" "Why is Pluto no longer a planet?" Questions like these are commonly heard in my classroom. Students are seeking answers to these questions. Having a library with science resources will help them find answers to these and other questions.

As a science teacher in a diverse, urban community I am constantly challenged to find exciting and meaningful ways to introduce new science concepts to my students.

Science is full of interesting, yet complicated words, theories and ideas. Many of our students are not native speakers and struggle with science vocabulary. Therefore, I feel these books will allow my students to gain the vocabulary they lack and as a result, succeed in science.

My Project

KIDS DISCOVER books will intrigue my students and stimulate their imaginations with vivid pictures and creative illustrations. I feel these nonfiction readers will satisfy students' needs for entertainment while teaching them important science concepts.
