Help me give my students a ROOT-VUE FARM for an underground view of what's happening in our garden. Our students love to learn about healthy eating and new foods by growing vegetables in our school garden.
Our district is an economically, religiously, and ethnically diverse town. We have a large population of immigrant families who benefit from the welcoming support of well-established families in town.
We are an elementary school where we try to instill a love of STEAM at an early age.
Science fires students' imaginations and helps them begin their life-long journey of learning. Our students love technology, science, and engineering and love STEAM class. As a STEAM teacher, this is a great opportunity to get our youngest students started in technology and electronics.
STEAM brings my students together, regardless of religion or specials needs. Students who succeed help other students, and that builds confidence and relationships.
My Project
RootVue will expand our existing gardening education program in a very meaningful way. Students love planting, weeding and watering in our school garden. The garden is perfectly aligned to our life cycles curriculum, and, along with books and the internet to teach how plants grow, I would like to show our students what's happening underground with the roots systems. With RootVue, students can actually watch the root system of several vegetables (onions, radishes and carrots) grow in real time in their classrooms, bringing science into their lives in a very real way. Students will be so excited to peek at the growth progress.
