This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Providing my middle school English classes with engaging books about climate change and the environment will open up a world of opportunity and new knowledge for my students. These books are a powerful way to build critical literacy skills that students will use for a lifetime and to inform them about topics relative to their own lives. They will explore evidence about environmental topics which will require to students analyze complex texts, evaluate arguments, and formulate their own opinions. Furthermore, the interdisciplinary nature of these books means students get real-world practice applying their English skills to science, social studies, and more.

Books on climate change will help students more than just academically; these books will spark a lifelong passion for understanding the world around them and will inspire my students to take an active role as engaged citizens.

Stories of people, especially young people, taking action to protect our planet are incredible inspirations for my students.

Your donation will provide my kids with new books for our classroom and enable them to become informed advocates for positive change.
