Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
What is the big idea with science? I teach all subjects to my first grade students. I feel it is important to making learning fun through hands on exploration.
With so much money spent by schools for textbooks and technology, little is leftover for hands on science materials. Also many of my students come from low income families who do not have these materials in their homes either.
My students need a giant thermometer, 2 talking microscopes, 2 magnifier glasses, 2 binoculars, set of 6 goggles, advanced magnet set, and a color mixing lab. I want to create a center in my classroom for students to explore science through hands on fun. We will be focusing on our Big Backyard theme throughout the year. Many of my students do not have access to these items in their homes and this will give students the opportunity to be scientist while exploring the world around them.
By providing science tools to my students you can create more interest in science within my students and may even inspire my students to pursue careers in science fields. Your donation can help create the next Marie Curie or Robert Hooke.
