My Students
I am honored to have the opportunity to work with the students at STEM Academy. My students come from diverse backgrounds and work in a collaborative, problem-based learning environment. They strive for excellence while developing high-level thinking skills and the skills needed for leadership, oral communication and real world situations.
In 6th grade Research, students learn the fundamentals of science and engineering, as well as coding, while working in a positive classroom environment.
My students are enthusiastic and passionate while learning to be critical and creative thinkers.
My Project
In our 6th grade STEM class, students are evaluating water quality in our local waterways, as well as the quality of our local tap water. They will observe and document changes in water temperature, pH, turbidity, nitrates, phosphates and salinity and how they affect ecosystem health.
We are in need of additional materials in order to effectively document data.
My students need a Carolina Water Quality Test kit to conduct these water quality experiments, as well as the LaMotte Phosphates Tests and the dissolved oxygen test kits. Once experiments have concluded, students will analyze the data to complete a scientific research paper.
