This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Each year my colleagues and I update our classrooms to give our students the best experience possible in preparation for their Independent Living goals. This year the focus is on the kitchen, specifically a pantry. We want to have enough dinnerware for all of the students to sit down together and enjoy the meal they prepared.
STEPS students are learning to set up an apartment, learning to make meals independently, and learning to organize a pantry.
The 2024-25 school year will focus on the kitchen and the pantry. We will plan meals/snacks, prepare a grocery list, use our Community Based Instruction time to purchase items needed, prepare and serve the meal/snack.
