Even though we are city kids our curiosity for the natural world is very high.
My fourth graders are an amazing group of students.
A hard working, curious, creative, and smart bunch that love to learn. Our school is in a suburban area near Los Angeles. We are a diverse group of wonderful, kind children who see only the uniqueness everyone.
My Project
Every year I assign my students a project to develop their own backyard field guide as part of our language arts unit. With the seven field guide books and 36 blank notebooks I have requested, my students will be able to learn about all the critters they might see in their own backyards.
We are a class of suburban/city kids.
The benefit to my city slicker students will be a chance to learn about the wild animals that are all around us. We will become more aware of our surroundings and learn to protect our fragile environment. With these supplies we will not only look at our environment with new eyes but change how we see the world around us.
