What's in a Bag? Colonial Williamsburg Comes to Life!
My students need these hand-on artifacts to bring our Unit on Colonial America to life. These educational tools would really make life in Colonial Williamsburg come to life for them.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have a rainbow class of very diverse students. We are an urban neighborhood public school filled with over 1,100 students of all socio-economic, academic and cultural backgrounds. 91% of our students receive free or reduced -price meals and our families need support in providing supplies necessary for my students to learn to the best of their ability.
Despite some family financial setbacks, my students have a drive to learn and love to come to school every day.
They are attentive, engaged and love to interact with one another, sharing ideas and knowledge. It is truly my joy to see them come alive when they learn and share new things in our classroom.
My Project
Sometimes it's difficult to make U.S. History "real" for 7th graders. To know that the people and events we are studying are real and had every day lives, not so different from their own. By looking at, and studying the artifacts in these Williamsburg citizens' bags, my students will be greatly impacted and history will come to life for them, right in our classroom!
These hand-on bags will create concrete images of people who lived in Colonial Williamsburg instead of vague images they imagine.
They resources would be invaluable in allowing my students to step back in time. My students would love seeing how the citizens in Williamsburg lived by examining the objects in these bags.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
