My Project
Striving to provide a comfortable and engaging learning environment is my first priority as an educator. In this class, my middle school students are engaged in learning to become better readers and writers.
8th grade students are motivated through project-based lessons, student and teacher led learning, and videos to become independent readers of fiction and nonfiction and writers of explanatory and argumentative texts.
No two students are the same, as each loves to read a different genre. In this inclusive classroom, content is presented through interdisciplinary learning, project-based learning, whole group and small group instruction. Our school is heavily driven by data and student growth, so watching my students’ progress in reading and writing throughout the school year is extremely rewarding.
This novel is a heartbreaking depiction of life as an enslaved person in war-torn New York in 1776.
Chains exposes interdisciplinary themes and pairs with other text sets, including fiction and nonfiction, to expose students to varied mix of genres.
